Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has served to catapult the fame of Diego Luna. Proof of this is the recent report of the portal Variety announcing him as the next star of the remake of Scarface.
Universal Pictures has not confirmed this news, but, if so, the actor would follow Paul Muni and Al Pacino, who starred in the first two versions of the popular character. Paul Muni gave life to Tony Camonte in Scarface in 1932, while Al Pacino played the great Tony Montana in the 1983 remake.
Variety also confirmed that director Antoine Fuqua will not be responsible for conducting the film because of a prior commitment to Sony Pictures. His next project is the sequel to the 2014 film The Enforcer, which will star Denzel Washington and Chloë Grace Moretz.
The script for Scarface was led by Terence Winter, who rewrote the first version of David Ayer and Jonathan Herman.
