Oscars 2017: 6 movies that may compete for Best Visual Effects

In Cinepapaya, we continue predicting the possible nominees for the 2017 Academy Awards and in this article we’ve selected 6 popular movies that could bring home the Best visual effects award.

The visual effects in movies generate magic in order to delve into fantasy worlds such as watching animals flying over the heart of downtown New York, entire buildings doubling as a sheet of paper or mega battles in outer space.

Although only a few weeks left before the Oscars screening committee discloses the nominees, Cinepapaya continue taking bets on our favorites. We have nominees for Best Film, Best Leading Actress, Best Leading Actor and now it's the turn for the Best Visual Effects.

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY

This much-awaited spin-off has an impressive visual display. Industrial Light and Magic, a company created by George Lucas, are pioneers in the field of special effects and have left many fans with open mouth over their stunning visual display.

THE JUNGLE BOOK

Director Jon Favreau takes this classic tale of Kipling to the big screen with the same technology used in live - action films like Avatar and Gravity. The result has been surprising.

DOCTOR STRANGE

Behind the special effects of this unusual Marvel superhero is Frenchman Stephane Ceretti, who created a lysergic and experimental aesthetics as the original comic book. The events take place when the United States is in a stage of anti - war movements and the use of hallucinogenic drugs. A true work of art psychedelic.

FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM

The spectacular world of Harry Potter extends to this spin-off film, where special effects are essential. Without a perfect visual imagery, it would not be possible for these sorcerers to play and catch those exotic yet friendly creatures that escaped the magical kingdom.

This classic tale is technically fascinating, as you would expect from a Spielberg film.
