After ‘Darna’ and ‘Ang Panday’, another iconic superhero is set to be reimagined for the newest generation of Filipino movie-goers and comic fans.

On Thursday, Viva Artists Agency has introduced James Reid to the media as the new Pedro Penduko.

Created by comic artist Francisco Conching, Pedro Penduko follows the journey to self-discovery of a young, wimpy teenager whose origin is extraordinary. He is the “chosen one”, destined to save a town from evil threats with the help of a magical amulet.

According to the half-Australian actor during the opening day of History Con at the World Trade Center in Pasay, filming for Pedro Penduko has begun and might wrap up next year. However, no official release date has been revealed yet.

Over the years, Pedro Penduko has seen two TV adaptations; first starred by Janno Gibbs and then by Matt Evans.
